Stage set for Triple Crown Series

His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa instructed the necessary measures to prepare for hosting the Ironman Championship in Bahrain on December 5.

The championship will be the third and final stage of Nasser Bin Hamad Triple Crown series.

Nasser Bin Hamad Triple Crown Organising Committee announced that it is cooperating with Ironman Europe, Middle East and Africa Organisation to inspect the race course and set a comprehensive plan to ensure the success of the race, which is expected to host the best triathletes in the world.

Shaikh Nasser underscored the significant position the Kingdom of Bahrain is holding among sports events hosting countries, adding that such an international championship being organised for the first time in the Middle East, in addition to hosting the final stage of the Triple Crown series is an opportunity to promote the Kingdom and its recent developments and achievements.

Shaikh Nasser directed implementing an efficient organising procedures during the days of the race and to avoid the flaws that occurred in the previous edition of the race, reaffirming his trust in the organising committee’s responsibility to reflect a positive image of Bahrain in this important event.

The Nasser Bin Hamad Triple Crown Series was launched in Dubai last year and included two more stages in Zell am See in Austria and Bahrain.

A huge cash prize was set by Ironman for the winner of the series and Bahrain Endurance 13 Ironman Team member Daniela Ryf is favourite to win the prize, after she won first place in both Dubai and Zell am See races.
