The British School of Bahrain won a five-goal thriller following a strong performance against Shaikh Abdulaziz Secondary School to keep their qualification hopes for the quarterfinals alive in the Nasser bin Hamad Football Tournament for Secondary Schools.

Meanwhile, Al Jabriya Technical School secured their second win and qualified for the quarterfinals after defeating wasteful Bayan School 3-1.

At Al Ittihad Club’s football field, the British School of Bahrain knew that they had to win the game in order to remain in contention for a berth in the quarterfinals.

And following a strong performance in the first half, they went 1-0 ahead thanks to Mahdi Tourani before Adam Sa’ad doubled the lead. Shaikh Abdulaziz School’s players were never really in the game, but Ali Hussain converted a penalty to make it 2-1 in the second half.

Thereafter, it was an end-toend game as the British School of Bahrain tried to restore the two-goal gap, while Shaikh Abdulaziz School pushed for an equaliser.

An own goal by Rooh Allah Ahmed complicated matters for Shaikh Abdulaziz School, but Mohammed Adel Jawad sent the game to an intense end after finding the net with just a few minutes left for the final whistle.

The British School of Bahrain flocked to their penalty area to defend their lead, and their efforts proved fruitful. Mohammed Al Modaweb of Shaikh Abdulaziz School was named the best player of the match.

In the other game, which took place at Isa Town Club’s football field, Al Jabriya Technical School proved to be super clinical against Bayan School who saw their players waste many golden opportunities.

It took only seven minutes for Al Jabriya Technical School to take the lead thanks to Haider Abdulredah as both teams headed for the halftime break with the result of 1-0.

Khalid Said doubled the winners’ lead midway through the second half, but Ali Hussain pulled one back to revive the hopes of Bayan School to level the score.

However, Mohammed Ahmed secured the result for Al Jabriya Technical School in the dying minutes, and he was named the best player of the game too.
