Following the directives of HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and the Honorary President of the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF), the 11th edition of the Bahrain National Day Arabian Horse Show will kick-off today at the Bahrain Sports Military Association’s ground at the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club in Raffa.

The two-day annual show will be held under the patronage of BREEF President, HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla stressed BREEF’s keenness to implement HH Shaikh Nasser’s directives aimed at attaching great importance to this popular sport, which embodies Bahrain’s long-standing history and legacy, being one of the prime centres for purebred Arabian horses.

HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla welcomed all participants, wishing everyone success.

BREEF’s Assistant Secretary-General and Arabian Horse Show Committee Chairman, Dr Khalid Ahmed Hassan, said that BREEF and all the relevant committees are ready to hold the championship and ensure its success.

Head of the Bahrain Sports Channel, Humood Al Jeeb, highlighted the keenness of the Information Affairs Minister, Ali bin Mohammed Al-Romaihi, to broadcast the equestrian events live in order to reflect the honourable image of such a sport in the kingdom.

Al-Jeeb added that the Bahrain Sports Channel would cover the National Day Arabian Horse Show races on December 4 and 5, with a live studio.

The first day will feature the official opening ceremony and races including yearling fillies (Class 1A), yearling fillies (Class 1B), 2-year-old fillies (Class 2A), 2-year-old fillies (Class 2B), 3-year-old fillies (Class 3), 4-6-year-old mares (Class 4) and 7-year-old mares (Class 5).
