FIFA Introduces Affordable Tickets for ‘Loyal Fans’

Geneva: FIFA has reduced the price of some World Cup tickets for loyal fans, introducing a new ‘Supporter Entry Tier’ priced at $60 for all 104 matches, including the final. This move comes after global backlash over the initial pricing strategy, with fans and organisations like Football Supporters Europe (FSE) criticising the high costs.

The $60 tickets will be allocated to national federations, which will decide how to distribute them to loyal fans who have attended previous games. Each team is expected to receive 400-750 tickets per game under this category. FIFA has received over 20 million ticket requests, indicating strong interest in the tournament.

However, FSE has dismissed the move as an ‘appeasement tactic’, arguing that most fans will still face historically high prices. The group notes that following a team from the group stage to the final could cost over $6,900, almost five times the price of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
