India dominate kabaddi as Iran sets record margin

Yesterday marked the fourth day of action at the Bahrain Asian Youth Games, with competitions spread across three venues: Kabaddi at Isa Sports City Halls B and D, Handball at Um Al Hassam Sports Hall, Teqball at Exhibition World (EWB), and Volleyball at Isa Sports City Halls B and C.

Powerhouses dominate the mats

At Isa Sports City Hall D, kabaddi produced some of the day’s most eye-catching results. Bangladesh extended their unbeaten run with a 56–29 victory over Pakistan, opening a 27–14 lead at halftime and maintaining control throughout. Bangladesh recorded 14 outs and seven bonuses, while Pakistan managed three super tackles in a spirited effort.

India dominated Bahrain 84– 40 in Group B, leading 39–21 at the interval and adding another 45 points in the second half. Anuj Kamal Chaudhary scored 14 points for India, supported by Harsh (11) and Aditya (6), while Bahrain’s Md Moshfiqur Rahman Almass (12) and Saiyed Aamed Noormahmad put up a strong fight but were unable to stem the tide.

Iran closed the day with a staggering 92–23 win over Sri Lanka, the largest margin of the Games so far. The Iranians executed 67 outs, 16 all-outs, and two super tackles, while Sri Lanka managed only a single bonus point.

Volleyball matches end in easy wins

Bahrain’s classification matches for 9th–12th place saw both boys’ and girls’ teams sweep Kazakhstan in flawless 3–0 victories. The boys opened in Hall C with a perfect 25–0, 25–0, 25–0 win, anchored by Jassim Madan, Ali Talaq, and Ahmed Husain, with middle blockers Hasan Ebrahim and Ali Jawad securing the defence. Simultaneously in Hall B, the girls mirrored the result, maintaining focus and consistency throughout.

Later, Chinese Taipei beat Qatar 3–0 (25–17, 25–17, 25–16) in just over 70 minutes, while the Republic of Korea’s girls overran Jordan 3–0 (25–9, 25–4), highlighted by 25 aces to three and 16 spike winners from 28 attempts.

Teqball semifinals

At Exhibition World Bahrain, Thailand, Iraq, and China advanced to multiple finals.

In Boys’ Singles, Thailand’s Thammanun Chokkittikul defeated Kuwait’s Naser Alsaqer 2–0 (12–1, 12–2), while Iraq’s Nooruldeen Khammas beat Malaysia’s Rahmat Bin Abdullah 2–0 (12–6, 12–8).

China’s Xinyan Jiang outplayed Iraq’s Narjis Al Dulaimi 2–0 (12–6, 12–6) in Girls’ Singles, and Thailand’s Noppasorn Jaikum defeated Indonesia’s Zahrotus Syifa 2–0 (12–8, 12–6), setting up a China–Thailand final.

The Mixed Doubles semifinals saw Thailand’s Chiratchayaphon Kenkhunthod and Anantachok Ngunkhunthod beat China’s Wu Chang and Luan Shaoxuan 2–0 (12–2, 12–3), while Iraq’s Abulfadhel Al Elayawi and Narjis Al Dulaimi overcame Malaysia 2–0 (12–3, 12–9).
