Bahrain have been drawn in Group B alongside Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq for the AGCFF U17 Gulf Cup in Doha next month.
The tournament runs from 20 September to 2 October, with Group A featuring the UAE, Oman, Yemen and hosts Qatar. The draw was made yesterday at the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation headquarters in the Qatari capital.
Bahrain’s squad, led by Croatian coach Ugo Klingor, are currently on a training camp in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They play FK Zeljeznicar Sarajevo in a friendly today, followed by two meetings with Bosnia’s youth team before returning home at the end of the month.
The Gulf Cup is the first of two major assignments this year for Bahrain’s under-17s. They also take part in the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers from 22 to 30 November, where they have been placed in Group A with hosts China, Bangladesh, Brunei, Timor-Leste and Sri Lanka.
Only the group winners progress to the finals in Saudi Arabia next May, joining the nine Asian nations who have already qualified through the Fifa U17 World Cup, including Qatar, Japan, South Korea and Saudi Arabia.
