Bahrain’s under-16 national basketball team returns home today after clinching the 22nd Arab Basketball Championship in Cairo, marking the Kingdom’s first-ever Arab title in the sport.
The young squad completed an unbeaten run to lift the trophy, highlighted by standout performances from Sumto Patrick, who earned the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award, and Hussain Fouad, who claimed the three-point shooting title.
Officials expressed confidence that this milestone will inspire greater development across youth categories, particularly as preparations intensify for the Asian Championship in Mongolia this September.
The ultimate ambition is to secure qualification for the prestigious FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup.
