Bahraini 400m star opens August in Krakow before Diamond League push
Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser is set for a high-stakes month on the track as she prepares to race in four key European meetings ahead of next month’s World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The 27-year-old 400m specialist, who took Olympic silver in Paris last year and won world gold in 2019, opens her August campaign this Saturday in Krakow, Poland, where she’ll run the rarely contested 300m against Olympic bronze medallist Natalia Kaczmarek.
From there, Naser returns to her signature distance in three Wanda Diamond League meets: in Chorzow (Aug 16), Lausanne (Aug 20), and Zurich, where she’ll aim to secure a third Diamond Trophy.
Currently ranked fifth in the 400m Diamond League standings, Naser is well-positioned for the finals and heads into this four-race stretch with a season-best of 48.67 seconds, clocked earlier this year in Jamaica.
With Tokyo’s global stage looming and Bahrain counting on her firepower, Naser’s European run will be the final tune-up in what’s shaping up to be one of the most competitive 400m seasons in recent memory.
