The final round of the Khalid bin Hamad Golden Generation Cycling League wrapped up in style on the Nasser bin Hamad Circuit in Sakhir, drawing the curtain on one of Bahrain’s most promising youth development competitions.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa—First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee—the championship brought together cyclists across the youth, cadet, and junior age groups.

The decisive race was attended by Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Cycling Association, alongside Dana Muthaffar, Deputy CEO of the General Sports Authority, as well as several senior officials, board members, and cycling enthusiasts. The event was hailed as a technical and organizational success, with a vibrant atmosphere that displayed the rising talent of Bahrain’s young riders.

Bani Jamra dominate on the podium

In the Youth category, Bani Jamra’s Mehdi Hassan claimed victory in the 28.8km race, finishing in an impressive 38:51 minutes. He was followed by Salman Hussein of Elite Academy (40:20) and Mohamed Aqeel, also of Bani Jamra (43:15).

The Cadets race (18.4km) saw Hassan Aqeel of Bani Jamra take top honours with a time of 18:25, edging out Elite Academy’s Abdulaziz Saleh (18:41) and clubmate Mohamed Hassan (18:42).

In the Junior division, Bani Jamra achieved a clean sweep, with Thamer Aqeel winning the 6km race in 11:04, followed closely by Hussein Ali (11:24) and Sayed Abdullah Ali (11:25).

Team results and participation

Team standings crowned Bani Jamra as champions in the U19 category, ahead of Elite Academy and MM Academy. In the U17 division, Elite Academy took first, Bani Jamra came second, and MM Academy placed third.

The league featured 4 clubs, with 16 youth riders, 19 cadets, and 12 juniors competing across 5 rounds. Among the participants were members of Bahrain’s national team, supported by a team of 4 coaches, 3 assistant coaches, and 8 certified referees.

At the closing ceremony, all winners were honoured across age groups. Organisers, officials, government agencies—such as Traffic Police and Community Police—were also recognised. A commemorative shield was presented by the Cycling Association to the General Sports Authority in appreciation of their crucial support.

The league reaffirmed its role as a cornerstone in Bahrain’s grassroots sports development—building a strong foundation for future international cycling success.
