In a game-changing announcement for Bahrain’s sporting future, the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) has revealed plans to build a world-class golf course at its Riffa facility. The move is set to put Bahrain on the map as a top destination for sports tourism while adding a new dimension to the Kingdom’s growing sports scene.
The deal was sealed by REHC CEO Yusuf Osama Buheji and Bareeq Al Retaj Real Estate Company CEO Yousif Bucheeri, with Spanish golfing legend Sergio Garcia on board as both the designer of the course and its brand ambassador. The project is part of REHC’s broader vision to strengthen Bahrain’s standing in international sport.
Buheji highlighted the project’s strategic importance, noting its alignment with the goals of the REHC High Committee, led by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He added that the golf course will diversify REHC’s sporting offerings and contribute to the Kingdom’s economy by attracting sports tourism and investment.
Bucheeri called the collaboration a major step forward for Bahrain’s sports infrastructure, building on the REHC’s success in hosting elite horseracing events. Expanding into golf marks an exciting new chapter in the club’s commitment to sporting excellence.
The new course promises to enhance Bahrain’s reputation on the global golf stage, drawing top-tier tournaments and professional players to the region. As Bahrain continues to develop as a sporting hub, this project is set to play a key role in shaping the Kingdom’s future as a destination for world-class events.
