While the DP World Tour’s top golfers battled it out at The Royal Golf Club, Awali Golf Club hosted its 11th Black Knights-sponsored Blackball competition, delivering an exciting display of skill and teamwork.

The Black Knights, a golf society primarily composed of Indian members along with international players, are known for their commitment to the game, frequently playing 18-hole rounds even in Bahrain’s intense summer heat.

The competition followed a team stableford format, where groups of three recorded individual scores while also tracking a team score using a designated black ball. Each player used the black ball every third hole, replacing their own.

Battling against windy conditions, the team of Farooq Ahmed, Dayton Hartley, and Dr. Salil Gupta emerged victorious, securing the highest team score of 39 points on the black ball.

In the individual divisions, Ali Musbah delivered the best score of the day, winning Division One with 41 points. Badr Al Dosari claimed Division Two with 38 points, while Darren Swain triumphed in Division Three, posting 36 points.

Black Knights representatives Captain Steve Newall, Rashed Al Qutami, and KN Singh presented the prizes, adding to the event’s celebratory atmosphere. The competition also featured outstanding food arrangements, further enhancing the experience for participants and spectators alike.

Looking ahead, next week’s tournament will be the eagerly anticipated A&E-sponsored Medal competition.
