Indian School Bahrain celebrates Republic Day

Manama : The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated the 69th Republic Day of India yesterday at the school campus in Isa Town with gaiety and patriotic fervour. 

The celebrations commenced with ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan hoisting the Indian National Flag in the presence of ISB Secretary Saji Antony, EC Members Jayafar Maidani, Mohammad Khursheed Alam, Premalatha NS, Binu Mannil Varughese, Rajesh MN, Ajaya Krishnan V, Principal VR Palani Swamy, Riffa Campus Principal Sudhir Krishnan, Staff Representative Johnson K Devassy and Vice Principals.  

It was followed by the National Anthem played by the Indian School Band under the guidance of  Band Master Haji Paul. Holy Quran recital and school prayer were rendered by ISB  students. Then followed the various cultural programmes: Dances and patriotic songs by tiny tots from Riffa Campus and teens from Isa Town campus. The dignitaries, administrators, teachers, students and a lot of parents witnessed the march past led by the School Band.

ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan in his address gave details of the significance of the  Republic Day of India.

Quoting the Indian President Ram Nath Kovind’s Republic Day message, he said: “A disciplined and morally upright nation is built by disciplined and morally upright institutions  that maintain the integrity, discipline and limits of their functioning, without compromising on excellence.”   

The winners of Inter School Cricket Quiz Aryan Jignesh Soni (class 6)  and Keerthanashri K (class 8) were honoured. The outstanding performers in the Indian School Band team were awarded medals and certificates by the Chairman, Secretary, Principal and EC  members.

The sports winners who were trained by the physical education teachers under the guidance of HOD Saikat Sarkar were also honoured during the ceremony. The winners include CBSE national badminton champion Sanjay Jaimy and CBSE cluster cricket winners. A lot of parents, students and teachers attended the function. The programme ended with a patriotic song.
