St Chris Principal honoured for outstanding contribution

ManamaPrincipal of St Christopher’s School, Ed Goodwin OBE, has been presented with an award in recognition of his ‘Outstanding Individual Contribution to International Education’ at a prestigious ceremony in London, UK.

The BISAs (British International School Awards) provides the opportunity for British international schools to share best practice, creative endeavours, community participation and innovation. Mr Goodwin was delighted yet ‘speechless’ with his award as the winner in this category is only unveiled on the night of the awards.

Ed Goodwin: “I attended the award ceremony thinking that my only reason to be there was to hear whether St Chris had won the Safeguarding Initiative of the Year award. The first award of the night was the “Outstanding Individual Contribution to International Education” category; as I listened Trevor Rowell read out a description of the winner’s career, it gradually dawned that it might be me! I was still absolutely dumbfounded when my name was read out. I then had to say a few words in acceptance and, for me, the most important part of that was to acknowledge that whatever has been achieved has only been possible with the support and dedication of so many people I have worked with over the years”.

Mr Goodwin, along with Head of Junior School, Wendy Bataineh, attended the ceremony, which was held on 22nd January 2018 at the Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, London, to represent St Christopher’s who were nominated for the award of “Outstanding Initiative to Support Student Safeguarding”.

Ed Goodwin’s services to education were also recognized in 2015 when he was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours for services to education across the Middle East. He received his award from HRH Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.
