ISB youth festival ‘Tarang’ begins

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) is all set to celebrate Tarang 2017, the biggest School Youth Festival in the Gulf countries, with the participation of over 3000 students in 126 events. The stage events will start today at 6pm with the Arabic dance and Hindi speech at the Jashanmal Auditorium in Isa Town campus.

The stage events in five venues will continue for the next five days with the Grand Finale on Thursday.  For the past one week the students have been participating in the non-stage events like essay writing, versification and painting competitions.

The participants scoring maximum points in stage and non-stage events will be awarded the prestigious Kalashri and Kalathilakam awards at the Grand Finale on Thursday.

Some of the prize winning and exhilarating events will be performed at the Grand Finale. More than 800 glittering trophies will be awarded during the Finale.

The Indian School has appointed external judges for majority of events from India and other GCC countries to ensure impartiality and to avoid any controversy or dispute over the judgement.

“ISB is committed to conduct the Tarang Youth Festival in a systematic way, leaving no room for complaints or discrepancies of any kind,” said School Chairman Prince S Natarajan.

“In order to ensure unbiased decisions, only judges who are highly competent in their field will be appointed according to availability” he added.

The ISB has introduced new software to facilitate the processing and storing of the youth festival results.

This year prizes for the group events will be distributed immediately after the declaration of the results. Individual prizes will be distributed during the Grand Finale.

The recently concluded non-stage events saw fierce competition among the participants and a true competitive spirit.

ISB has a strength of 12250 students and Tarang 2017 is a much-awaited event in the school calendar.

The school has formed a committee to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival under the leadership of the principal as the chief convener and the vice principals as the general conveners.
