Cementing its position at the forefront of aviation and logistics training in the MENA region, the Gulf Aviation Academy (GAA), the leading Bahrain-based high-quality aviation and logistics training institution, has recently announced it received the certification as an Approved Training Organization (ATO) from the Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs (BCAA) at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication to launch its own Air Traffic Control (ATC) training.

The certification qualifies GAA to train air traffic controllers in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region through all levels, including basic and advanced qualification.

Moreover, GAA's independent ATC training programme is aimed at positioning the Academy as a regional hub for ATC and much more with its wide range of existing internationally recognised courses, such as pilot and cabin crew training, aircraft engineering, aviation security (AVSEC), airport operations and management, ground training, maritime, and other specialised courses that are compatible with the highest international standards in the industry.

On the occasion, Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications Civil Aviation Affairs HE Under-Secretary Mohammed Thamer Al Kaabi stated: "We are very pleased with the close cooperation with the Gulf Aviation Academy and the great efforts made by the academy to adhere to the licensing requirements issued by the Civil Aviation Affairs, which are designed to continuously evaluate the performance of the training centres in the field of civil aviation and to improve the quality of technical training in the field of Air Traffic Control. We are proud of the certification of the Gulf Aviation Academy as an accredited centre to hold air traffic control courses, which will undoubtedly offer an opportunity for the largest number of national controllers to train and benefit from this specialized centre under the direct supervision of the Civil Aviation Affairs."

For his part, GAA CEO Captain Dhaffer Al Abbasi stated: "We take pride in announcing the certification of GAA as an ATC ATO after receiving the BCAA approval, as we are constantly keen on providing the best qualification and career development options to aviation professionals in the region. This certification represents another remarkable milestone achieved by the academy in recent years and we can now proudly offer approved top-notch ATC training on different levels to our clients in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the GCC and throughout the world."

"This launch comes within our solid commitment to offer diverse training services at reasonable rates and in line with GAA's strategy to establish itself as a pioneering hub for aviation and logistics training in the region. Airports and individuals can now benefit from our high-quality ATC training which is compliant with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) regulations and is conducted by a highly-qualified team of experts who utilise advanced equipment and simulators at the academy," Capt. Al Abbasi added.

GAA is located in close vicinity of Bahrain International Airport, and it operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing state-of-the-art simulator equipment with internationally qualified instructors.
