Bahrain yesterday joined the global celebrations marking World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.

It was a day that echoes the kingdom’s storied past, where centuries of trade, migration, and its pivotal role as a crossroads of civilisations have woven a rich tapestry of cultural plurality.

Bahrain’s demographic landscape is a mosaic, painted with the hues of its own citizens and the vibrant strokes of expatriates from South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

This confluence of cultures manifests in a kaleidoscope of traditions, cuisines, languages, and festivals.

Bahrain is not just a melting pot but a chef’s special, where every ingredient is essential to the recipe of its society.

Council of Representatives Speaker, His Excellency Ahmed Al Musallam, affirmed that Bahrain’s long history of cultural diversity has rendered it a paragon of tolerance and amicable coexistence, upholding the virtues of pluralism and the brotherhood of man.

Under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Kingdom has witnessed cultural feats of pioneering spirit and a developmental odyssey of both intellectual and qualitative essence.

Commenting on the occasion, MP Basma Mubarak stated, “We celebrate this day, which enriches our society and enhances the spirit of tolerance and understanding among peoples.

This day reminds us of the importance of dialogue as a means of building bridges of communication between different cultures and appreciating and respecting the values of others.”
