Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) hosted several Bahraini jewellery entrepreneurs. The event comes as part of DANAT support to national energies and its commitment to contribute to enhance youth capabilities in fields related to pearls and precious stones.

Several DANAT experts met with Bahraini entrepreneurs participating in the event and briefed them on the scientific foundations and correct principles in the field of designing, testing and reporting of jewelry.

The participants learned about the unique services provided by the institute in the field of training. An explanation was provided to the participants about a training program offered by DANAT in cooperation with the Gemological Society in the UK (Gem-A), making DANAT the first accredited teaching center from Gem-A in the Middle East.

Gem-A is the oldest global provider of gem and jewelry education in the world with a cumulative experience of 110 years. The program consists of basic courses and an accredited diploma, and it targets individuals who are looking to enhance their expertise and skills in the jewelry industry or to obtain a career in this field.

The event presented the working mechanism of DANAT laboratory in examining and classifying pearls and precious stones, highlighting how to grant it an internationally accredited certificate, what equipment the laboratory uses, the employees working in it, and their field of study and expertise.

Ms Layal Bushehri Layal Bushehri, Marketing Communications Public Relations Manager at DANAT, explained that these events aim to enhance the awareness of Bahraini entrepreneurs with ideas or projects related to the designing, testing, and reporting of jewelry.

Ms Bushehri noted the importance of the scientific study in this vital field by following qualitative courses that refine the entrepreneurs and designers’ experiences and empower them. Ms Bushehri said: “The increased interest in the field of jewelry design and trading in Bahrain, especially among youth, we have taken it upon ourselves at DANAT to be the umbrella for them and to deliver reliable scientific reference that helps them launch and upgrade their projects, enhance their competitiveness, and increase its ability to further expand and grow.”

The director pointed out that the interest and demand for this event prompts DANAT to organise it in the form of periodic meeting programs that are organised from time to time and address the latest developments in the field of pearls, gemstones and jewelry and review the challenges and opportunities for Bahraini youth in this field.
