The Royal Humanitarian Foundation of Bahrain and the Real Madrid Foundation renewed their collaboration for the tenth consecutive year in a ceremony held in the Spanish city of Madrid. Enrique Sanchez Gonzalez, the executive vice president of the Real Madrid Foundation and Mustafa Al Sayed, the Secretary-General of the RHF, signed the deal. International player and Ambassador of the club Alvaro Arbeloa was present.

The Foundation gives hope to our children, and it may be that in the next Olympics, one of our orphaned kids will represent Bahrain,” said Al Sayed after the signing.

The collaboration between RHF and Real Madrid, starting from 2011, had benefitted more than 1,000 boys and girls and 50 football coaches.

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, thanked His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the support provided for orphans in social, health and sports fields.

Dr Al-Sayed thanked His Highness Shaikh Nasser for the care he accords to advancing the work of the Foundation to achieve the visions and aspirations of His Majesty the King to provide a decent life for orphans in the Kingdom.

“The academy helps children who are members of the foundation to develop a career in football and opens doors to prestigious clubs and National team,” said Dr Al Sayed said. Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, agreed to conduct annual sports camps in Real Madrid Sports City and to intensify courses for coaches. It is worth noting that five camps were in Madrid at the club’s training headquarters.

Gonzalez thanked HH Shaikh Nasser for the care he attached to youth activities and orphans. The Academy of Real Madrid Charity in Bahrain, he said, is one of the most successful academic and charitable programmes implemented by the club.

“The club aims at providing best sports services and development in the humanitarian work,” he said, expressing pride for Bahrain becoming the first country in the Middle East to establish Real Madrid Academy.
