High turnout for summer camp

 Sharifa Alawadhi Youth and Children Club, affiliated to the Ministry of Social Development saw over 860 children participating in its summer programme activities such as taekwondo, cooking, computer, art, environmental projects, football, basketball, swimming, 3D modelling, Qur'an reciting and many others.

 Head of the Youth and Children's Club, Eman Ghiath said the developmental programmes received widespread acceptance from parents and children.

 While most of the boys joined self defence programmes, girls were more attracted to crocheting activities.

 A survey conducted for parents the activities such as cooking, crocheting, taekwando and arts reflected positively on the behavior and thinking of children.

 It is worth mentioning the Social Development Ministry is keen to provide summer programmes each year, as it is neccessary to develop the abilities of children, and help them exploit their spare time with benefits. It would also help produce generations of well-educated, conscious, creative, and resourceful individuals, the Ministry said.
