578 illegal taxi drivers arrested in Bahrain
Manama : 578 illegal taxi drivers have been arrested during an inspection drive to find those who provide transportation services without licence, Lt-Col Adel Ibrahim Al Dossairi, Director of Operations and Traffic Control at the General Directorate said yesterday.
They arrested are referred to the Public Prosecutor. They could be awarded ten days jail terms, up to BD500 fines and deportation for expatriates.
“The department carries inspection campaigns to find those who provide transportation services without licences from the traffic authority and the Ministry of Transportation,” said a statement.
