Time is ripe to make Bahrain hub for education

Manama : Bahrain should consider transforming itself into a major hub for education in the region, said a top Japanese expert while urging companies in the private sector here to join hands with their Japanese counterparts.

“Bahrain and Japan should collaborate to seize opportunities in the education sector,” said Yasuyuki Kumon highlighting the experience Japan has in this field.

He was speaking at an event titled ‘Japanese Perspective on the Middle East’ hosted by The Bahrain-Japan Business and Friendship Society at The Diplomat Radisson BLU Hotel, Residence & Spa.

Shedding light on the opportunities available in the sector, he pointed out that the labourers coming from Asian countries including Philippines need training before they join work.

“Currently, no training is provided to them when they go to Dubai or Saudi Arabia or any other GCC countries for the purpose.

“Being new to the region, they aren’t also familiar either with the language or with the work culture here and are completely lost

“Bahrain, however, is capable of providing this kind of training since the education sector here is advanced,” he explained.

The Kingdom, according to Kumon, got the right facilities to develop as a hub for training and educating labourers coming to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations from the Asian countries.
