Young actor impresses with class at Arab competion

ManamaTheatre lovers in the Kingdom are on cloud nine after a local boy made it to the top six in the men’s category of the second season of Arab Casting.

Ahmed Saeed, the only candidate from Bahrain to get selected to the show, impressed viewers and judges alike with his acting skills to top the widely popular show which features contestants from all over middle east.

Having enrolled only for “gaining experience”, Saeed is surprised in getting so far ahead in the competition.

“When I first applied I was just expecting it to be a valuable learning experience. But as I progressed, the competition spirit kicked in and I have been giving this all I have got. I never imagined that I would get so far ahead,” he said.

With the support from family, friends and fans in Bahrain, Saeed believes he has a good chance of winning the contest with his hardwork .

“The participants are really good and some of them even have an educational background in acting and directing. It was difficult because we only have three to four days to prepare ourselves for every prime. I do believe I can win with hardwork but I will also need the audience to support me by voting because that plays a huge part in final race,” he said while urging his fans to help him out in the voting process.

Saeed says acting has always been a passion of him since childhood.

“I loved acting since I was a kid. I loved imitating people and celebrities. It was when I started acting in high school that I discovered the passion in me. It was an awesome feeling when the crowd got entertained and supporting me, so this feeling grew within me and my passion grew stronger.”

Saeed performed his first act in high school where he participated in university plays. Later,  he joined a local theatre group “Al-Sawari” where he performed his first official act in September 2016. His performance won him best supporting actor award then.

“Three weeks after that performance, I got accepted in Arab casting and went for the auditions in Lebanon.  I got qualified from 120 candidates, and finally got selected from the best 20 actors in the program to continue the live shows. I am proud to represent Bahrain in this show, I am the only Bahraini here,” says Saeed, whose biggest dream is to be an international actor.
