Alba wins Green World Award 2016

Manama : Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the Bahrain-based international aluminium smelter, has been named as the Gold Winner of the Green World Award 2016 for Environmental Best Practice. 

The award endorses the Company’s long-standing commitment towards protecting the environment not only at the local level but also at the regional and international levels, the company said in a statement.

Alba won the Gold in the prestigious International Green Apple Awards 2015 for its project ‘Aluminium Smelter to Green Oasis’, which was then submitted for the Green World Award for 2016.

Commenting on this accolade, Alba’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Murray said: “Scooping the Green World Award 2016 for Environmental Best Practice is a testament of the continuous efforts of our workforce towards maintaining an environment-friendly workplace. 

Alba will continue to invest in green initiatives to maintain its position as one of the largest and most efficient smelters in the world.” 

Green World Award has been launched as the top tier of the Green Apple Awards by the Green Organization to recognize, reward and promote Environmental Best Practice around the world.
