Nabeel Rajab’s trial adjourned to August 2

Manama : The High Criminal Court yesterday heard the case of Nabeel Rajab, accused of spreading false news, insulting a sister country and the Interior Ministry. He was remanded and the case was adjourned until August 2 for review. The Capital Governorate’s Prosecution Chief Mohammed Al Maliki stated earlier that the Public Persecution detained the man after he posted false news on his Twitter account regarding the on-going military operation in Yemen, which is taking place in support of the legitimate government. The defendant reportedly published remarks termed offensive against the aInterior Ministry. According to the indictment list, he alleged that the ministry was torturing prisoners, humiliating them, denying them education and degrading their dignity. He termed the measures taken by the security forces during the Jaw Prison riots as torture.
