US Renews Travel Advisory for Bahrain, Orders Non-Emergency Staff to Depart

Manama: The U.S. Department of State has renewed its Travel Advisory for Bahrain, ordering the departure of non-emergency US government personnel and family members due to escalating regional security risks.
In an update issued March 2, the department said the decision reflects ongoing safety concerns following the outbreak of hostilities between the United States and Iran on February 28. While the advisory level and risk indicators remain unchanged, officials said the summary was revised to reflect changes to US Embassy operations.
The U.S. Embassy Manama confirmed that non-essential staff and dependents have been directed to leave the country as a precaution.
The advisory continues to urge Americans to reconsider travel to Bahrain due to risks linked to terrorism and armed conflict.
According to the State Department, there remains an ongoing threat of drone and missile attacks originating from Iran, as well as significant disruptions to commercial flight operations in the region.
The department also warned of a persistent risk of terrorist violence, noting that extremist groups may target tourist sites, transportation hubs, markets, shopping malls, religious venues, and government or military facilities. Officials cautioned that attacks could occur with little or no warning.
Separately, the Federal Aviation Administration has issued a continuing Special Federal Aviation Regulation and Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), citing risks to civil aviation operating within or near Bahrain’s airspace.
US authorities advised travelers to monitor official updates and review FAA restrictions before making travel plans.
