The comprehensive maintenance of two mosques in Riffa has been approved without objection, reflecting continued attention to the upkeep of religious facilities serving residents in the Fourth District of the Southern Governorate.

The approved works cover Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa Mosque in Block 929 and Um Al Qur a Mosque in Block 939, both located in Riffa. The two mosques serve as important gathering points for daily prayers, Friday congregations, and major religious occasions throughout the year.

Members stressed that regular maintenance is essential to preserve structural integrity, uphold safety standards, and maintain a dignified environment for worshippers. Over time, natural wear, usage pressure, and environmental factors can affect buildings and utilities, making timely intervention necessary.

The planned works are expected to address general repairs, servicing requirements, and improvements aimed at enhancing comfort and accessibility for mosque visitors.

Councillors noted that mosques in Riffa play a vital social and spiritual role beyond their primary religious function, acting as centres of cohesion and neighbourhood interaction. Ensuring their continued upkeep reflects respect for the community and reinforces stability within residential areas.

The approval highlights a broader municipal commitment to safeguarding public facilities and responding directly to local needs, with projects that carry both practical and social significance.
