His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, described the visit of H.E. Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides as a key milestone in the long-standing cooperation and close strategic partnership between Bahrain and Cyprus, underpinned by trust, understanding, mutual respect, and shared human values.

“This visit reflects the depth of our historic relations and the mutual commitment of our leaderships to strengthening bilateral ties,” H.E. Dr. Al Zayani said.

He added, “The opening of the Embassy of Cyprus in Manama marks a new chapter in our diplomatic journey, coinciding with 44 years of fruitful relations.” His Excellency highlighted that “the agreements signed during this visit underscore our shared commitment to advancing cooperation across defence, culture, education, tourism, transport, technology, and maritime services.”

Dedication

H.E. Dr. Al Zayani commended the outcomes of the official visit, noting that it demonstrates the governments’ dedication to further developing the strategic partnership and serving the mutual interests of both countries.

He emphasised Bahrain’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to enhance bilateral relations and contribute to regional and international peace, security, and sustainable development.

The Minister underscored the diplomatic alignment of Bahrain and Cyprus on key international issues, reflecting a shared commitment to achieving just and comprehensive peace in the region, resolving disputes by peaceful means, and supporting the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution.

Cooperation

He also highlighted the importance of international cooperation in ensuring maritime security, safeguarding global trade routes, and promoting tolerance, human fraternity, and dialogue between civilizations, in line with the initiatives of the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance.

H.E. Dr. Al Zayani expressed appreciation for the strong coordination between the two foreign ministries, noting high-level exchanges and three rounds of political consultations, the latest in Nicosia.

Trust

He welcomed Cyprus’s participation in the 21st IISS Manama Dialogue 2025 and Bahrain’s hosting of the annual regional meeting of Cypriot ambassadors accredited to the Gulf Cooperation Council, reflecting mutual trust and the key role of diplomacy in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

He concluded by underlining the success of the Bahrain–Cyprus summit in highlighting the significant progress achieved in strategic cooperation and shared commitment to further developing relations across political, economic, social, cultural, and security domains, to benefit both countries and support broader diplomatic efforts aimed at building a world of peace, coexistence, and sustainable prosperity.
