Bangladeshi expat cricket event in Bahrain draws community support

 Manama: A vibrant gathering of cricket enthusiasts from the Bangladeshi expatriate community took place recently in Bahrain as the Bangladeshi Expatriate Cricket Excellence Night 2026 brought together players, officials and community leaders to celebrate the sport and its growing influence among youth.

 Hosted by the Bangladesh Young Association Bahrain, the event served as a platform to promote cricket participation among Bangladeshis living in the Kingdom and to strengthen community bonds through sport.

 A major highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the new jersey for the BD Royals Cricket Team, which is set to compete in the Bahrain Cricket Federation KHK League Division-C in the upcoming 2026 season. The launch was met with enthusiasm from players and supporters alike, underlining the team’s readiness for the competitive season ahead.

 The programme drew distinguished attendees, including Bangladesh Ambassador Mohammad Rais Hasan Sarwar, who praised the organisers for fostering sporting activities within the expatriate community. Community leaders echoed the ambassador’s sentiments, noting that sports like cricket play an essential role in instilling discipline and unity among young people far from home.

 Organisational leadership for the event included Nazir Ahmed as the presiding host, with Assistant General Secretary Touhidul Islam and Organising Secretary Sajib Bazlur Rashid ensuring the smooth conduct of proceedings. A welcome address was also delivered by Abul Hossain Sourav, setting a tone of celebration and encouragement.

 As part of the programme’s recognitions, honorary crests were presented to key organisers, acknowledging their contributions to nurturing cricketing opportunities for expatriates in Bahrain.

 Speakers at the event expressed optimism that the BD Royals will continue to represent and uplift the Bangladeshi cricket community in Bahrain through spirited performances and community engagement in the months ahead.
