Bahrain Congratulates Cyprus on EU Council Presidency

Bahrain: On the directives of His Majesty The King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Excellency Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the ceremony marking the Republic of Cyprus’s assumption of the presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event was held in the capital, Nicosia, and was attended by a high-level gathering of heads of state and government, foreign ministers, and representatives from numerous countries.

On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the congratulations of the Kingdom of Bahrain its leadership, government, and people to the Republic of Cyprus on assuming the EU Council presidency for the current term. He expressed confidence that Cyprus’s presidency will contribute to strengthening the European Union’s role in promoting regional and international security and stability, enhancing multilateral cooperation, and further deepening joint cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the European Union in a manner that serves shared interests.

The minister also praised the strong historical friendship and cooperation between Bahrain and Cyprus across various fields, wishing the Cypriot leadership continued success in achieving its national objectives and advancing the European Union’s role at both regional and global levels.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Khalid Yusuf Al-Jalahma, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of Cyprus, based in Tel Aviv; Ambassador Saeed Abdulkhaliq, Head of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector; and Sheikha Al-Anoud bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Acting Head of the European Affairs Sector.
