Minister of Works Issues Decision on Sewage and Surface Water Service Fees
The Minister of Works, Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, has issued a decision setting new fee categories for sewage and surface water drainage services.
According to the decision, the first article defines the fees required for submitting a licence application and for requesting amendments to licence conditions.
The second article states that Bahraini citizens will be exempt from service fees for their first residential home.
The attached schedule to the decision sets the fee for submitting a licence application at BD10 per request, and BD10 for each request to amend licence conditions.
Regarding other sewage services, the fee for wastewater disposal will be calculated at 20 per cent of the water consumption value. This charge will apply to three categories: Bahrainis with more than one account, non-Bahrainis, and the non-domestic sector.
The third article of the decision assigns the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works to implement the provisions. The decision will come into effect from 1 January 2026.
