Air transport meet on Jan 22

The Supreme Organising Committee for the Bahrain International Air Show yesterday confirmed speakers for the ‘Air Transport in the 21st Century Conference’, which will be held on the second day of the show on January 22.

The first session of the conference will focus on Airlines and Passenger Experience and will see Kuwait Airways’ Philip Saunders, Qatar Airways’ Akbar Al Baker, Tamur Goudarzi-Pour from Lufthansa Middle East and Paul Byrne from Flymas as panellists discussing some of the major issues affecting Middle East carriers, including increased competition, passenger experience, deregulation and the Open Skies agreement.

The second session will focus on Middle East Airports and Airspace and features a panellists of Middle East aviation industry experts, including Ahmed Al Nemah from Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’’ Civil Aviation Affairs; Richard Philips from Serco; Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah from Bahrain Airport Company; John Swift from NATS; Alan Corner from Helio and Salvatore Scervo from Selex ES.

Speaking about the conference programme, Kamal Ahmed, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee for BIAS, said:  “In response to visitor and participant feedback we have created more networking opportunities than in any previous show, with an increased number of top-level executives from the international airline industry participating as speakers and trade delegations at the activities. This includes two conferences during the show: the ‘Air Transport in the 21st Century Conference’ which will be held on the second day of the show and will cover some the major issues affecting the Middle East aerospace industry, and an IATA seminar held on the third day of the show.”Amanda Stainer, Commercial Director for Farnborough International Ltd, said:  “With the show just a few weeks away, the programme for the conference is looking excellent.
