As part of the 34th Bahrain International Music Festival, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), in cooperation with the French Embassy in Bahrain, will host a live performance by the French-Turkish quartet Luna de Seda.

The ensemble is led by acclaimed French double bassist Renaud Garcia-Fons, renowned internationally for his virtuosity and innovative approach to music.

Luna de Seda presents an original repertoire blending Eastern and Mediterranean traditions — such as maqam and flamenco — with influences from across the Atlantic, including blues, jazz, and Afro-Latin rhythms.

The group features Garcia-Fons on a unique five-string double bass, Kiko Ruiz on flamenco guitar, Derya Türkan on kemence, and Serkan Halili on kanun.

Musical dialogue

Together, they create a distinctive musical dialogue that bridges East and West.

Garcia-Fons has earned multiple international accolades, including the Echo Deutscher MusikPreis Jazz Award for Best International Instrumentalist (2010 and 2011), the BMW Welt Jazz Award (2017), and the SACEM Grand Prix for Jazz Music (2021).

The concert will take place on October 8 at 8:00 p.m.
