HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Meets Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, met today with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV during his official visit to the Vatican City State and the Italian Republic.
During the meeting, His Royal Highness reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to strengthening ties with the Vatican and advancing the values of tolerance, coexistence, and interfaith dialogue.
The Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation across various fields to achieve shared strategic goals. He also conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Majesty the King to His Holiness, who in turn extended his regards to His Majesty and wished Bahrain continued prosperity and development.
His Royal Highness emphasized Bahrain’s dedication to protecting religious freedoms and safeguarding the right to worship. He noted that the presence of mosques, churches, and temples across the Kingdom reflects Bahrain’s longstanding culture of peace, harmony, and openness to dialogue among civilizations.
The Crown Prince praised the Vatican’s global role in promoting coexistence and fostering solidarity between different faiths, while also commending Pope Leo XIV’s efforts in advancing tolerance, compassion, and peace worldwide. He wished His Holiness continued health and success in his humanitarian mission.
The meeting was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court; HE Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs; HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy; along with several senior officials.
