New academic programs and cooperation deals approved

Chaired by Education Minister, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council held its regular meeting, attended by board members and invited guests, during which several organisational decisions were issued.
The meeting reviewed the progress of implementing resolutions from the previous session, discussed requests submitted by higher education institutions, and issued approvals based on reports presented by the Council’s Secretariat.
In the area of academic programs, the Board approved the Royal University for Women’s request to launch a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, while the Gulf University received approval to introduce a Bachelor’s program in Business Intelligence and Analytics as well as a Master’s program in Law.
Bahrain University College was granted approval to establish a Master of Science in Information Technology with a Cybersecurity track, and the British University was authorized to host an International Foundation Year program to replace its existing foundation certificate.
The Board also endorsed a wide range of cooperation and partnership agreements. Applied Science University was permitted to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Institut Supérieur de Commerce in France, in addition to an agreement with the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
Gulf University was given approval to establish partnerships with Westcliff University in California, Ajman University in the UAE, the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli in Italy, the Canadian International College in Egypt, Jakarta Global University in Indonesia, and MGIMO University in Russia.
Meanwhile, the Royal University for Women obtained approval to collaborate with the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom to host a Master’s program in International Business Law. Vatel Bahrain, a hospitality college, was authorised to sign a memorandum with the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hospitality.
The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) was approved to enter agreements with Ankara University in Turkey, AMBOSS in Germany, Iowa State University in the United States, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.
