From battlefield doctrine to classroom rigour, Bahrain’s 18th Joint Command and Staff Course opened yesterday as a regional military pipeline where officers from allied countries will train together and graduate with a Master’s degree in Military Sciences.

Regional intake

The course was inaugurated at the Royal Command, Staff, and National Defence College under the patronage of His Excellency Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force. His Excellency Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, Chief of Staff, said the participation of officers from neighbouring states reinforced cooperation and broadened the exchange of expertise.

The programme equips participants to take on leadership, operational and administrative responsibilities with competence and proficiency. It also awards a Master’s degree in Military Sciences, described as a qualification of advanced scientific value and a source of knowledge for developing armed forces in the region.

Training ethos

Addressing the intake, the Chief of Staff called on officers to expand their knowledge, adopt advanced military thinking and sharpen their leadership capabilities. “The army advances only through action and is victorious only through sound planning, because military training is the weapon in the field,” he said.

The ceremony also featured Quran recitation and a speech by Major General Abdullah Saeed Al Mansouri, Commander of the College. The Chief of Staff conveyed the Commander-in-Chief’s best wishes to the participants and concluded with prayers for the protection and prosperity of all nations.
