Religious values key to strengthening unity and security

His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, met with sermon speakers (Khatibs) and religious figures at the Police Officers Club to reinforce community partnership and collaboration.

The Interior Minister praised the role of religious leaders in promoting social cohesion, stating: “The security, safety, and stability experienced by the Kingdom of Bahrain is due to the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the ongoing efforts of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.”

He added, “Sermon speakers have a responsibility to advise the public and promote adherence to tolerant religious values, which support the protection of youth and future generations.”

Religious pulpit

General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah emphasised the importance of the religious pulpit as a cornerstone of national unity and the rule of law, saying: “The minbar serves as a unifying platform for Muslims and must focus on shared values, community awareness, and social cohesion.”

The meeting was held in the presence of H.E. Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments.

It highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to constructive communication with all social groups, underscoring the role of sermons in delivering unifying messages and reinforcing Islamic teachings and core community values.

Sanctity

The Interior Minister commended the educational and honorable mission of the pulpit in safeguarding youth amid societal challenges, stating that mosques must preserve their sanctity and continue to provide guidance for the public’s welfare.

Sermon speakers expressed appreciation for the invitation, noting the meeting strengthened bonds of mutual respect and harmony within Bahraini society.

The session reflects the Kingdom’s proactive approach to national unity, tolerance, and collaboration between government authorities and religious leaders to maintain the country’s security and social stability.
