A 34-year-old Bahraini man is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into a woman’s apartment while posing as a security officer, the High Criminal Court heard.

The suspect, who has pleaded not guilty, is charged with theft, assault, unlawful entry, impersonating a public official, and unauthorised use of a vehicle, according to the Public Prosecution.

The incident took a bizarre turn when the suspect returned a stolen vehicle two days after the crime, claiming he had found it abandoned.

This suspicious act, coupled with security camera footage placing him at the scene, led to his swift arrest.

According to court testimony, the 45-year-old female victim recounted the terrifying ordeal: “I was about to leave my apartment when the Bahraini man confronted me, claiming to be a police officer and requesting to search my apartment. Suddenly, he pulled out an iron rod, threatening to attack me if I didn’t comply. I screamed, and two men came to my aid, but he assaulted them as well.”

One of the men who intervened described the harrowing encounter: “He was holding a metal bar, raised it as if to strike us, and ordered us into a room, demanding we lock the door. We were terrified and complied.”

During the altercation, the suspect stole one of the men’s clothing and the woman’s car.
