Blocs flay subversive efforts to destabilise Kingdom

ManamaTwo Bahraini societies yesterday urged the authorities to enforce the law without any hesitation, warning against subversive designs to destabilise Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

They hit back at the so-called “national Bahraini opposition abroad,” which issued a statement regarding the trial of a clergyman man accused of money laundering, unauthorised fundraiser and circumventing the national laws.

Al-Asala Islamic Society and Al-Menbar National Islamic Society strongly condemned any threat to resort to violence and terrorism unless the clergyman, who is but the agent of the Iranian leader, is cleared and granted an above-the-law immunity.

They slammed calls on the United Nations to interfere and grant some parties “the right of self-determination,” describing the statement as evidence of the treason committed by the terror-minded so-called “national opposition.”

In a joint statement, Al-Asala and Al-Menbar backed the legal measures to hold accountable some personalities and put them on trial on charges of money-laundering and illegal fundraiser.

They stressed their trust in Bahraini judiciary to ensure that justice is done and welcomed measures to enable lawyers to plead and provide sufficient legal guarantees.

The two societies called on the authorities not to bow to impudent external threats being made by foreign-backed sides, which seek to subvert Bahrain’s security and promote their dangerous agenda.

“The rule of the law shall be enforced on all people, in compliance with the fundamentals of democracy that some profess,” they said.

“The so-called foreign-based national Bahraini opposition is made up of groups which, although disparate, serve the Persian hegemonic project and pledge full allegiance to Tehran regime. They engage in subversive designs to undermine the security of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, threaten their interests, sully their image and encourage foreign interference in their internal affairs,” it added.

The two societies stressed the necessity of confronting foreign interference, welcoming the firm stance against the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), which has long been aligned against Bahrain and the region, “The UNHRC has become a tool in the hands of major powers that are preying on Bahrain and the region to further their colonial agendas,” they said.
