NIS celebrates Annual Sports Day

The New Indian School, Bahrain celebrated its Annual Sports Day at its school premises on 21st December, 2017. 

Led by the Department of Physical Education, athletes of the school teamed up with the spirit of participation and displayed their ability to the best in the midst of their academic pursuits. 

Dora Naghmouchi, Head of Physical Education, Hawar International School and Aruldas Thomas, Chairman of Indian Community Relief Fund graced the occasion. School Chairman, T. T. Thomas and Director, Dr. V. Gopalan inspired the staff and students with their presence.

The event began with the March Past by the four houses, Emerald, Pearl, Ruby and Sapphire followed by the flag hoisting ceremony. CBSE cluster, Bahrain Chapter winners, 48 of the National level qualifiers, winners of the various sports events held during the academic year were honoured during the event.  

As part of the cultural events, students of I-III lined up to display a human chain formation of NIS and a heart; calisthenics by IV and V students and aerobics by the students of classes VI-VIII. The highlight of the day was the pyramid formation by the senior section boys.

The runner up trophy for the march past went to Ruby House and Sapphire House was pronounced the winner. Emerald House bagged the overall championship trophy in the sports category for the current academic year. Sridhar Siva, Head of the Physical Education Department proposed the vote of thanks.
