Big win for Emirates Hurricane

Manama : Emirates Hurricane defeated Saudi Arab Rangers by 36 runs yesterday in the first semi-final match of the Arabian Cricket Carnival T20 2017 at the Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa.

Batting first, Emirates Hurricane were dismissed for 197 in 18.4 overs with Dipesh Bhandari (43) top scoring with Mehran Khan of Saudi Arab Rangers picking up three wickets.

In reply, Saudi Arab Rangers were bowled out for 161 in 16.4 overs despite a fantastic knock by Khawar Ali (92) with Abdullah Azhar the best bowler in claiming three wickets.

In the final round-robin match played earlier, Dubai Destroyers ended its campaign with a 55-run victory to finish with a five win no loss record after scoring 156 for six in its 20 overs, with Haseeb Amjab (41) top scoring and Rajesh and Aman Singh picking up a couple of wickets apiece.

Oman Avengers were then dismissed for 97 in 13.4 overs with Obaid Mirza (34) top scoring, while Sufiyan Mahmoud picked up three wickets.

Despite the defeat, Oman Avengers advanced to today’s semi-final on a better run rate ahead of Bahrain Brave Hearts and Kuwait Crusaders as all three teams finished with a one win and four loss record after the completion of the round-robin matches.  

Coincidentally, Dubai Destroyers will play Oman Avengers in the second semi-final starting at 1pm.

The event is organised by Bahrain Cricket Centre and KHK MMA Bahrain under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of the Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.

Six teams of 12 players from the GCC had competing in a round-robin format with four international players per team allowed.

The management of Arabian Cricket Carnival (ACC) T-20 (2017) have announced free entry to all school students today with gates open at 12:30pm until 9pm. 

All students with School ID cards will be allowed free entry with their families and students with ID cards should go to Gate No5 (Zone 3B Zone) - Student with Families Only.

For the general public, tickets are available at the National Stadium all day from 12.30pm to 9pm and are priced at BD1, BD2, BD5, BD15 and BD30.
