ASPA meet concludes in Bahrain on a high note

Manama : The Union of Arab National Olympic Committees’ Arab Sport Pioneers Association (ASPA) course came to a close on Wednesday at the S Hotel in the Seef area.

Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa patronised the closing ceremony of the five-day gathering, which saw a group of highly-qualified academics from all over the Arab region take part.

Dr Mohammed Ruwaished of Saudi Arabia gave the closing remarks, in which he thanked the BOC for its contributions to bring this significant event to Bahrain.

He also invited Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa, first vice-chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and BOC honorary president to become the ASPA honorary president.

On behalf of participants, Dr Aziz Kareem of Iraq delivered a speech, in which he thanked both the ASPA, BOC and Shaikha Hayat and all speakers for their contributions to making this course a success.

The closing ceremony ended with Shaikha Hayat presenting a commemorative gift to BOC, which was received by its sports affairs executive director Abduljalil Asad.

During the course, discussions related to sport professionalism as well as its requirement, regulations, rights, duties and effect of sport professionalism on the athlete life took place.

It took place in cooperation with the BOC, which formed a committee to prepare for the sessions. This committee was headed by BOC executive director for sports affairs Abduljalil Asad and includes members Mohammed Al Balooshi, Hassan Ali, Fai Buallai, Jalal Al Mukhtar, Fatma Al Saqer and Hassan Juma.
