Men’s Youth Handball: Bahrain win over Norway 39-23

Manama : Bahrain, under coach Ebrahim Ali, defeated Norway 39-23 in its third Group A match yesterday in the 2017 Men’s Youth World Handball Championships at the Tbilisi Sports Palace in the capital of the former Soviet Republic of Georgia.

After losing its opening group match by 42-20 to defending champions France, they bounced back with a 35-31 win over Denmark in its second match, but after trailing 19-13 by half-time to Norway could not overcome the deficit in the third match.

Top scoring for Bahrain was Ahmed Fadhul (7 goals), Abdulla Ali (6), Ahmed Ali (4) and three apiece for Yusuf Al Qasimi and Abdulla Al Zaimoor.

For Norway the top scorer were Sindre Heldal (8), Sander Simonsen (5), Fabian Sendvan (5), along with four goals each by Olaf Hoffstad, Andrea Haugseng, Bjoernar Pederson and Thomas Boilesen.

Bahrain’s other group matches are against Egypt tomorrow and Sweden on Monday.

In other Group A matches, France defeated Egypt 36-29 after leading 15-13 at half-time and Denmark were 29-26 winners over Sweden after the two sides were tied at 14-14 at the halfway break.
