Nasser 10: First grand raffle today

Manama : The first lucky winner of a car will be known today as the raffle draw on one of the grand prizes is taking place today during the matches of Nasser 10 Football Tournament at Khalifa Sports City Football Stadium in Isa Town.

The curtain comes down on the second round of the group stage, and the occasion will be marked by giving away the first grand raffle prize as Nasser 10 Football Tournament celebrates its 10th anniversary.

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), has directed the allotting of 10 cars for spectators as a token of appreciation for their support and contributions to the success of the tournament. The lucky number holder must be among the spectators during today’s matches if he/she is eligible to receive the car. Or else, the draw will be re-conducted, and another winner will be handpicked. The cars were provided by Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo Company and Majestic Cars. The prizes of this year’s tournament are the biggest since its launch.

Several veteran players are taking part in the tournament including former Bahrain’s international player Abdulrahman Abdulkareem, the goalkeeper of Suqoor Al Bahrain, whose contribution between the sticks enabled his team to bring out a major surprise by defeating title holders Victorious. 

The second round of the group stage ends today with Group 4 matches scheduled as Al Husan Al Aswad face Al Zilzal at 9pm, while Al Fakhar will play Al Zaeem at 11:15pm. Both games will take place at Khalifa Sports City Football Stadium. All the teams have one point after their first-round matches ended with draws. Al Zilzal shared the spoils with Al Fakhar 2-2, while the game between Al Zaeem and Al Zaeem finished 1-1. Al Fakhar and Al Zilzal they are largely tipped to win their respective matches. Al Zilzal includes in their ranks many top international star players such as Sayed Mahmood Adnan, Alaa Hubail and Mohamood Jalal. Al Fakhar also has several top players to rely on, including Mahdi Humaidan, Mustafa Yaqoub and Mohammed Radi.   

In the latest match, Al Nawayef completed a fantastic comeback to defeat Al Wehda 3-1 to top Group 3 as Hassan Hameed put Al Wehda ahead five minutes into the match, but Christian of Al Nawayef equalised in the 31st minute. Samuel fired Al Nawayef ahead in the 66th minute, and in the 90th minute Ahmed Rashed doubled the winners’ lead as the match ended 3-1. 

Meanwhile, Majed Al Sharaf won the grand prize of the CrossFit Championship which was held at in Limited Plus CrossFit in Hidd. The event was held as part of the 3rd Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games “Nasser 10”. American participant Kelly Anderson won the title of the female competition during the event after outclassing her competitors. Second place went to Bahraini competitor Dura Al Mahari.
