Young inventor honoured

ManamaA primary school student who recently invented a device that purifies air inside classrooms to help her classmates with special needs was honoured yesterday by a senior state official.

Supreme Council for Women (SCW) General Secretary Dr. Hala Al Ansari received Juwairiya Al Siddeeqi and a number of her fellow students of Al Orooba Primary Girls’ School.

The student briefed Dr. Al Ansari about the innovative device and how it works.

Al Siddeeqi also told that she was supported by her parents, school and classmates to bring out the device in its final form.

The student said that the invention takes into account the circumstances of her classmates with special needs and other students who are affected by the slightest pollution in the atmosphere.

The first stage of the project was implemented in the school last week in the presence of Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi.

Dr. Al Ansari praised Al Swddeeqi’s efforts to create this device in an initiative that she said brought together the humanitarianism and scientific creativity. She expressed her admiration for this innovation in the activities of the schools of the Kingdom of Bahrain that are affiliated with the United Nationa Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), especially that this year’s theme for the organisation is sustainable development and climate change.

Dr. Al Ansari underlined the achievements of Bahraini women of different ages benefiting their families, causes and the entire society.

The official also stressed on the importance of stimulating innovation in women and supporting inventions that are significant to their needs, in addition to encouraging them to enter technical and engineering fields, especially as the SCW dedicated this year’s Bahraini women to celebrate women in the  engineering field.
