PMAC: Bahrain school students honoured

Manama  : The prize distribution for the Prince Mahidol Award Conference 2017 World Art Contest (PMAC) took place at the Royal Thai Embassy yesterday.

During the ceremony, students from Bahrain, who participated in the contest were honoured.

Organised under the theme ‘Everyone Matters’, 493 art pieces from 17 countries were showcased.

Among the participants,  Abdulrahman Salamah, 11, and Sami Ali Al Heddi, 10, from Al Wisam International School, Bahrain, were selected as winners. They were in 9-13-year-old category.

Chayapan Bamrungphong, Ambassador of Thailand to Bahrain, was the chief guest on the occasion. He said that he was pleased in celebrating the unity and diversity of the two countries with the future generation that uses painting as medium to promote social awareness. He said he was also pleased to honour the winners from Bahrain who emerged as winners from the 17 countries participated.

Dr Lina Lewis, the principal of Al Wisam International School, told DT News that she was proud of the children. “The school’s mission was always to inspire the young generation, and it was great to see them receive an international award,” said Lewis.

Abdulrahman Salamah, who won the prize, said that he was happy to see that people liked his work and he could represent Bahrain in the contest.

Sami Ali Al Heddi, who is also a winner, said, “I thank everyone in giving me a platform and supporting me to do what I love doing.”

The other participants honoured were Mahmood Mahdi, Ismail Hassan , Jaber Hussain, Mohammed Ali, Ghadeer Ebrahim, Jood Mohammed, Zainab Raed and Hadeel Sayed Faisal.
