New medals for Mini Olympics

ManamaThe organising committee of the Fourth School Mini Olympics, due to take place in April have approved an all-new medals design for this year’s event.

This is the fourth edition of the Mini Olympics and is organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and will involve schools from across the kingdom.

This was announced at the committee’s second preparatory meeting, chaired by Lounes Madene, at the BOC premises in Seef.

Madene revealed the design of the medals for the upcoming event, which are being manufactured in China and will show the logo of the School Mini Olympics as well as the torch and the Bahrain Olympic Committee theme.

He noted the outstanding number of entries for this year’s event, which promises to be a record breaker compared to the previous editions of the Mini Olympics.

Open to private and government schools, the 2017 School Mini Olympics will see participants compete in various sports events, including table tennis, athletics, aquathlon, triathlon, volleyball, 3-on-3 basketball, swimming and jiu jitsu.

The event aims to promote the concept of public health and creating a competitive sports environment among students, spreading knowledge and physical education among the younger generation.
