ManamaBahrain’s National Athletic came out on top in winning the 12km Public Gulf Cross Country Race in the 27th GCC Cross Country Championships, held in Sharjah, UAE and organised by the Arab Athletic Association.

The Bahrain National team, comprised of Zalalim Pasha, Hassan Shani, Almahjoob Darzi, Isaac Courier, Evans and Jon Jebet, clinched the gold medal with 10 points, Oman (43) took silver, with Saudi Arabia (46) taking bronze followed in fourth by Kuwaiti (59) and UAE (64) in fifth.

Bahrain took the first four positions, with Hassan Shani (38 minutes 2 seconds) first, Isaac Courier (38:03.0) second, Evans 39:11.4) third and John Jebet (40:01.9) fourth minutes.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of West Asian Athletics Federation, President of Bahrain Athletics congratulated the leadership on the achievement.

He also congratulated HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee on the achievement.

Bader Nasser, head of the Bahrain National Athletic team delegation was also full of praise of the performance.
