Gravity team excels

ManamaGravity Indoor Skydiving’s 2-Way Dynamic team proved how good they are in The Wind Games 2017 competition, which was hosted by Windoor tunnel in Spain during the first week of February. With Gravity’s sponsored athlete bringing home a silver medal in the 4-way speed discipline.  The competition gathered 80 of the strongest teams from around the world to contest in various disciplines including 4-Way Formation Skydiving, Solo Speed races, Solo Freestyle, 2-Way Dynamic and 4-Way Speed.

The performance of the Gravity team members, Ben Roane, world-class coach and champion and Garth Lewis, Gravity instructor, was recognised amongst various other competing world champions. In the event, the team participated in the 2-Way Dynamic discipline and had to perform compulsory speed rounds and one free routine, in which they received the ranking of third place overall for their distinguished performance. The team received high scores for their free rounds reaching 99% by the judge’s panel, who judged the free rounds based on the difficulty, execution and presentation of their routine.

Ben Roane also competed for Gravity in the “Frends4eva”, 4-Way Speed team, which was only put together 2 days prior to the competition. The team consisted of members Josh O’Donoghue and Luke Warrenn from Windobona wind tunnels, who won a gold medal for 2-Way Dynamic, and 13-year-old star of the competition, Kyra Poh from iFly Singapore who also won two gold medals at the competition for Solo Speed and Solo Freestyle against more experienced champion adult flyers and younger well-trained competitors.  The team won a silver medal in this category despite the fact that they trained for only one hour before the competition. The victory came after a tough battle for first place, finishing 0.015 seconds behind the winners.
