‘Joint action vital to snuff out terror’ : Bahrain FM

Cairo : A collective and realistic action is needed to eliminate terrorism and dry up funding, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.

“Common endeavours should be exerted to eliminate terrorist groups. We should not give them the opportunity to reach their goals and quest to destabilise security and stability,” he pointed out in his address during the valedictory function of the 146th Ordinary Session of the Arab League Council at the Ministerial Level in Cairo on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Shaikh Khalid demanded that Iran cease immediately its interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries, and refrain from practices that affect national security.

The Minister denounced attempts by Iran to politicise Hajj through repeated hostile remarks by senior Iranian officials, praising the tireless efforts made by Saudi Arabia to safeguard all the pilgrims. The Ministerial Council also issued a statement condemning the hostile statements of the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

Following his speech, Shaikh Khalid transferred the Presidency of the Arab League Council at the Ministerial Level to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia, Khamis Al Jehinawi. The Council also discussed a number of topics on Arab action, the Palestine, Syria, Yemen and Libya issues etc.
