Odiong clinches gold medal

ManamaEdidiong Ofonime Odiong has won gold medal in women’s 200 metres IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Dalila Abdulkadir Gosa takes Silver in 3000m, Tigist Getnet in 3000m, steeplechase and Bronze for Bontu Bebitu in 5000m.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, President of West Asian Athletics Association and President of Bahrain Athletic Association has congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the leadership on the success of the Bahraini men and women teams in winning four medals, one gold, two silver and one bronze in the concluded championship.

This achievement is the outcome of the efforts of the government’s projects and programmes that seek to promote youth development in sports, implemented by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, who is always keen to support all nationals teams to participate in various sports events abroad.

Shaikh Khalid congratulated the Bahraini athletes for reaching the podium thanks to their outstanding performance and pointed out that this international achievement surpassed the accomplishments of the team in the last championship hosted by the US.
